Concept
www.lettermatching.com is a free letter-matching canvas activity built on the calm bubble canvas of www.bubblepopping.space. Over a softly dimmed, slowly rotating backdrop of everyday photographs, bubbles carrying capital letters drift down the screen. A single bubble in the top-left corner shows the letter to look for. Bubbles that match that letter pop when touched; bubbles with any other letter jiggle and ripple but stay whole. There are no written instructions, no score, no countdown, and no way to lose. It is not a game in the competitive sense — it is a small, calm way to practice recognizing letters.
Why Letters, and So Few Words
Most digital products explain themselves before they let you use them. This one doesn’t. The only language on the canvas is a single letter at a time. The rule is learned by trying: a matching bubble pops, a different one jiggles. That gentle feedback teaches the match without menus, scoring, or the pressure to perform.
Design Principles
- A borderless canvas with nothing but bubbles, one target letter, and a quiet footer.
- Behind the bubbles, three dimmed photographs (a beach sunset, coastal dunes, and a low tide) cross-fade from one to the next every three minutes, so the scene changes gently without demanding attention.
- Bubbles appear at irregular intervals and drift freely, with no fixed pattern or path. Each carries a random capital letter, and a share of them always carry the target letter, so there is something to match.
- A tap or click on a matching bubble pops it. A tap on any of the other 25 letters makes the bubble jiggle and ripple without popping — feedback, not failure. A non-matching bubble can also be held and dragged aside to uncover a matching one behind it, then drifts on from wherever it is let go.
- The target letter changes every 30 seconds. Each change is marked by a large green bubble showing the new letter, which appears briefly in the middle of the screen.
- Five matches in a row, without a wrong-letter tap in between, earn a golden starburst with a short encouraging phrase (“Great job!”, “Let’s go!”, “Keep working hard!”, “Outstanding!”). The count resets quietly after each celebration. Nothing is scored, saved, or shown as a running total.
- Calm background music is available from a small toggle at the top of the screen — muted until you choose to play it, with no other player controls to manage.
- No ads, no chat, no accounts, no leaderboard.
Beta Scope
This web release is a beta (v1.1). It uses capital letters A–Z only. Lowercase letters, adjustable timing, and other refinements may be explored in later versions based on what we learn from this beta.
Roadmap
The same free letter-matching activity is planned as standalone iOS and Android apps, preserving the same principles: no score, no noise, just letters and bubbles.
